Whoa, now this I like! Spicy but smooth evening scent with some sensual woods and good lasting power. I'll have to get around to sampling the 1st to see which is the better.

Still very complex, but the notes just aren't as enjoyable. There's this peppery note on top (I think it's the cabernet grapes) that's invigorating, then it sortof fades into a wet ceder wood kinda smell (could be the driftwood) that is a bit overpowering, finally it dies down into a nice musk and nutmeg combo that is very pleasent.

Romance Silver is just utter sexiness in a bottle (tobacco flower does most of the trick here) and masculine with the subtle suede accord added to the base. It definitely can be worn for most occasions all year around, from casual to romancing with your girl over dinner to those flirtatious nightouts with your girl pals (It seduces alright!). Wears well with casual clothes and can also go with dressier attires making it a perfect all rounder scent. I think it might be too sexy for the office but a bit understated for partying it out during the weekends. The sillage is just right and won't be asking for attention loudly nor does it scream of high sophistication, though it will turn heads with its simple yet elegant character. This fresh, crisp, and spicy-floral cologne is a genius creation from Raph Lauren, best in his line-up imho.

which is better? i currently have Romance and i enjoy the scent. but i've been hearing good things about Silver on this board and from other people. i want to get some opinions as to which is sexy, seductive and romantic. thanks ....

just a nice fresh-semi spicy/woody fragance without personality... its not bad at all, but we can find better fragances on the market..

I`m 22 and I`m searching for my signature cologne that has to be subtle, calm, relaxing, sensual, soft, elegant, has a unique smell, no sicklyl sweety fruity notes or headache inducing wood but in between and leaves a deep impression at the same time. Think of the effortless charm. Think of Robert Redford (not that I look like him but I try); what do you think is perfect for him to wear? I`ve been buying tens of testers and have narrowed my choices down to Bvlgari Pour Homme and Romance Silver but still not quite sure. What do you think is the best? Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I am not going to be verbose when describing a cologne I like, but, I first smelled Romance Silver in a men's health magazine and I had to buy a sample. It really is a "classic" smell without it smelling like it should only be worn by older gentlemen.

Of the 8 or so smells that I have... I'd rate this one as the most well rounded of them all... By no means something super original, it somehow comes across as a traditional smelling scent with a modern edge. Perfect for the office and that late afternoon coffee apointment. Always a safe bet however I'd have smells for evening use ;)

I tried on this cologne, but didn't realize it until the dry-down just how beautiful this cologne is. My next acquisition!

Probably THE BEST from the designer and definitely in my top ten. Not nearly as spicy as the first but overall a more seductive and notorious scent.

Man I thought I liked Polo Black. But this is just a notch better. I really like the dry-down on this cologne and for me its a perfect balance between sexy and masculine. I think this is RL's BEST fragrance so far in his line. Tobacco flower smells great as well. Super Product!

Outstanding woody-floral hit could be in due time RL's "signature" fragrance above the original and all of the Polos.

I didn't like this cologne at first cuz initially the cologne smells like clementines, if u like smelling all fruity. But wearing it around during the day, i noticed how subtly strong it was on me. During the dry down, the scent really flourishes, and it's incredible how good it becomes. It's very sensual and a head turner. I've received many compliments each time i wear this. It's a winner, but u can't tell initially. Try it for a day and it'll truly surprise u.

Wonderful and awfully sensual spicy-woody-floral fragrance is great for romantic and evening wear but I don't know about "office" wear (!?!) which I've heard this is recommended for. One of the best evening babe-magnets out there for men.

suede note (corduroy) and spicy/floral. decent longevity but not worth the price tag. will eventually pay 25 bucks for the small bottle but not in a rush. comparble to incanto by ferragamo.

Holds its value in every store I've seen which I guess is a good thing but well worth it's healthy price tag. Probably the most sensual of RL's lineup and overall maybe a tie with Polo Black but I think I might like this spicy-floral aroma a little better.

I have pretty much the same opinion about this one compared to the original except that Silver is a tad bit more seductive.

One of the kings of sensual mens fragrances out there and I think it's no office wear cologne and more or less for the evening/romantic type wear.

I DiDN"T buy this. I thought about getting it for my hubby cuz I like Romance a whole lot but I got the samples and it's just not what I thought it would be. I don't know what the hype is, but Romance Silver is just not very romantic and sexy to me. It's not bad, but not one of my fav's.

Romantic Frangrances to me include but are not limited to Pi, Pi Fraiche, Dreamer, John Varvatos, Salvatore Ferragamo, Desire Red, Roma by Laura Biogiatti (definitely) and recently I picked up and am enjoying Escada's Magnetism. Try some of these out. I always get compliments on the Dreamer and Roma. I tend to stay away from heavy heavy fragrances which I consider Angel Amen and Michael Kors to be.

i agree about allure but as far as romantic scents try 360 red which is classified as sporty but be the judge 4 yourself. also chicks love anything by carolina herrera and the legendary issey

The 'Romantic' scents appear to be 'ambery' but that's not very accurate; in fact it would seem that a better definition would be sweet without being revolting. For me, this one passes the test, Intuition flunks, Allure is so-so and I still can't make up my mind about Sculpture. My question is what other colognes would YOU recommend in the 'romantic ' category?? Thanks.

Great smell, almost like Dunhill Desire red but with tobacco dry down tone. Great for clubbing and night out scent, but not original.

There's a good chance that W.B. and R.J. are most likely the same person with their all UPPERCASE reviews but I have no connection with either one of them......although I would like to meet my fellow P.E. cologne master(s) in person someday. Go through every mens fragrance selection including the minis and gift sets sections and I guarantee that if this website is here five years from now that you won't see either of their names pop up on at least a dozen fragrances I've posted for.

Yes, I agree that this scent is among the elite, but lets hope it doesn't become coolwater.

I am not sure why people like this colonge so much... I was expecting something extremely good, but when I found nothing speical when I tried it. I like polo blue better

They are most likely one person, everywhere you go, they always post very closely together, it smells fishy. On Romance Silver though, it does not smell fishy, it's actually quite nice and quite expensive might i add. I think it's just ok though, but a shocker coming out of the RL line.

Had a Dior Higher type smell to it that got on my nerves. Regular Romance is nothing but warm woods to tone down all that fruit so why compare the two. On a good note Silver is more dressier and urban.

No doubt about it! Excellent fragrance and really gets attention. Cristobal is another special fragrance! You can't go wrong with either.

Normally I detest popular designer fragrances made by the likes of Lauren and CK, but this one is an exception. It's a winner, and it has legs. It won't play hide and seek after a couple of hours.

I like Romance better but you can't really compare the two because each has it's own distinct smell. Romance was a fruity type scent and Romance Silver is more of a refined tobacco/woody scent. I gave it 3 stars because I'm not into that tobacco/woody scent, never liked them, but if you enjoy emporio armani and other woody smells, than this would be pretty good.

I've been wearing cologne for a few years and I've come to acquire a keen sense of smell when it comes to good cologne - I try to pick out colognes that arent too trendy and stand out without overpowering those around you. Having said that, Romance Silver is a winner. The best quality is trying to determine what the notes are because it just smells so darn good you will have women wondering. sometimes, thats not a bad thing. =). I would say second in line if you don't like Romance would be Chrome by Azzaro.

This is fantastic stuff. Lauren's best men's fragrance. I just love the fruity, peppery bottom notes on this cologne. It's a top 5 in my collection.

I rated this on the original Romance post back on December 30, 2003 and I have to say that this is still the best fragrance available for men right now. There is NO cologne that has the dry down that this one does. I honestly cannot say that I have smelled a more perfect cologne. I have gone through 2 1/2 bottles of this in just over a year and my girlfriend still begs me to wear it when we go out. Casual or dressy, this is the scent to have!

Damn good stuff....wont deny the similarity with desire blue....though different. Prob- doesnt spread all that much but its bloody good for intemecy. Lasts well.

smells like a copy of Dunhill's Desire, especially smells like Desire's dry-down! But this fragrance is nice in its own right.

This is definitely better than Romance, to me Romance smells like Aqua Dio Gio, which wasn't very original. Silver has added tobacco notes which i like, cuz i'm a total sucker for tabacco notes in colognes, this one gets my vote!

It is true, it is absolutely the best Ralph Lauren fragrance by far. Romance was good, but this is a lot better. It just beat Polo Blue in my list. Not only this is the best RL fragrance thus far, it is also competitive against some top notch fragrances out there. Out of about a 100 colognes that i've tried, this is definitely in my top 5 along with Dolce&Gabbana. Expensive, but money well spent!

THIS VERSION OF ROMANCE IS MORE "ORIGINAL" THAT THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL. THE SMELL OF IT IS A BREAK FROM THE MONOTONY OF THE MODERN CITRUS BOWL OF FRAGRANCES THAT ARE OUT NOW. RALPH MAY OUTDONE HIMSELF THIS TIME.

THIS IS THE BOMB!!! BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL, WHICH SEEMS UNORIGINAL IN MY OPINION. A KEEPER IN MY COLLECTION FOR SURE.
