Dunhill is my husband's favorite cologne...

excellent cologne I love it and always have....my son gets one every year for his birthday. He will be 45 this year.

...if this got discontinued? Dwindling supply and rising prices makes me think this one is about to disappear. Does anyone out there know the scoop on this? For the record I think this is probably Dunhill's best offering of the last 20 years...

There are better wood scents, and the spices might be a bit too light weight. No, I don't agree it's scented dishwater but there's 3 things that are wrong with it : 1. Guerlian Vetiver ( a heavewight) 2. Versace cologne by Versace aka Versace l'Homme--in any case it's the 1990 with green liquid. an elegant powehouse and 3.Lowe Pour Homme by Lowe--the same idea as D.E. Only executed far better.

Or ferns. Though it does have clove and geranium, which are not listed here. No, this isn't as good as the ultrasophisticated Dunhill 1934 (THE original in the rustic box) but it's not bad by any means. Very woodsy. Longevity is not terrific, but overall, perhaps the best of the ' easier to find' Dunhills. For men 30+

This one just gets an ok from me..not bad, just ok, doesnt last very long though.

This new formulation which was introduced about two years ago, only to replace the older sublime formulation under the same name Edition, is not even worthy of my dog. I do not know what they are thinking at the Dunhill company; they have replaced the elegance and refinement of the older formulation with a copy-cat, cheap, me-too product. What a way to dilute and destroy a brand. Why can't they just sell this new crap under a different name like their other new tacky products, and keep their only respectable and elegant original Edition.

Anyone know what fragrance now offered smells close to the original introduced in 1934...desperate to find...

Dunhill Edition is a great fragrance--unique, not too strong or too light !

This has always been my signature scent. Recently I ran into Creed Himalaya and Tabarome, and as much as these scents surprised me in a most positive way, I still think Dunhill Edition can face both Creed and L'artisian scents as equals. Understated but longlasting freshness, warm, starting of with a very very subtle nutmeggy peppery smell eventually turning into the most pleasent woody drydown you've ever smelled. I found out that it is a real childhood memory trigger with females somehow. Where dunhill for men (1934) fails to smell timeless, and comes on too much like your grandpa, Edition does the job. I think you will like this when you are into the more formal understated fragrances out there. It will get you noticed in a fresh warm way, without being intruisive. Try it!

James Bond did not wear "Dunhill Edition." He wore the original 1934 Alfred Dunhill for men, their first and only fragrance for many years.

This cologne has run it's course people. Sure, it was a great smell when Valley Girls and Sperry Topsiders reigned supreme but this is 2004! Strong woodsy smell with more than a hint of clove. I figure if you run through the forest naked while smoking a clove cigarette you'll just about have the smell nailed down. Too spicey for daytime wear, definitely for evening (especially if that evening happens to be at a 20 yr reunion).

Opens similar to Guerlan Vetiver: a lot of lemon juice. Then dries up and a woodsy base (sandalwood I think) comes forward. Overall it is refined, conservative and undrestated. I don't think one can go wrong with it.

This fragrance is kind of a sleeper...you don't hear too much about it. But it's great. If you like a scent that's fresh, clean, and yet warm and "zippy"...yeah zippy...you'll like this. It makes you feel fresh all day. This is a good one for guys who like simple, clean, and fresh Josh

Incredilbe fragrance. Dunhill Desire pales in comparison. Edition is a very classy,elegant,sensous fragrance that definitely attracts women. Not for everyday, though. Just for special times.
